The People’s QFC is a space for BIPoC earthworkers/land stewards/farmers and those wanting to reignite a relationship with the land and agriculture.  Together we will celebrate, nurture kinship, learn, rest and play!  The weekend will be filled with farm-olympics/games, canoeing, a dance party, workshops and knowledge sharing.

This event is free to all participants and travel stipends may be available to those in need in order to support their arrival. We are expecting no more than 60 participants in this event for the weekend. Priority will be given to applicants based in the 12 Midwest states but we welcome applicants from all over Turtle Island.

The Peoples' QFC will take place on occupied Anishinaabe, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ and Wahpekute lands, in so-called osceola, wisconsin on September 6-8, 2024. Location will be emailed upon confirmation of attendance.

We acknowledge the limits of language and terms like BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) to express how we name ourselves as beings with complex experiences, relations, Ancestors’ legacies, desires and commitments to each other and land, and as kin who are also surviving colonization, white supremacy, capitalism, imperialism and military occupation on not only Turtle Island but globally.

This People’s QFC is intended to welcome and hold space for trans/two-spirit/queer kin of the global majority - BIPoC, not a space for white farmers/land owners.  If you do not intersect at these identities but wish to be involved in some way, you can support our work by donating to our event here!

Your Organizing Team:

Hello! We are an organizing crew of two-spirit, trans, queer BIPoC kin, including mixed folks with varied dis/abilities, planning the first-ever Midwest BIPoC QFC! Yeeee! We are so elated!

After attending QFCs around the Midwest, there grew seeds of longing to craft a unique and precious space for us by us. And so it is with that we present The People's QFC!

Our organizing crew members tend, are tended by and planning from: minowakiing (so-called "milwaukee, wisconsin") on Ho-chungra, Bodewadmi, Mamaceqtaw, and Black Liberator lands; teejop (so-called “madison, wi”) on Ho-chungra land; zhigaagong (so-called “chicago, il”) on Anishinaabe, Ojibwe, Odawa, Chippewa and Potawatomi lands; Anishinaabe, Očhéthi Šakówiŋ and Wahpekute lands (so-called “osceola, wi”); and Piscataway lands (so-called DMV area).
